Academy Award Winner Benicio Del Toro will join this event!

Actor Benicio Del Toro is a longtime fan of Kaneto Shindo. 
He himself selected the director’s finest works and special screening was held last year in New York.

During his stay in Hiroshima, he will visit Sukune-jima Island, which was used as filming location for “The Naked Island” that Benicio Del Toro likes the most among Kaneto Shido’s films. 
Also, in order to feel messages Director Kaneto Shindo expressed in his films, he will offer flowers to the Cenotaph in Peace Memorial Park and go on a talk show at NTT Cred Hall.

Benicio Del Toro

On the occasion of Shindo’s 99th birthday on April 22nd in 2011, longtime fan Benicio Del Toro presented some of the director’s finest work and the North American premiere of his newest film “Postcard” was screened in New York.
This opens the opportunity for the film “Children of Hiroshima”(1952) themed with atomic bombing, was screened for the first time in the United States.
